Milesight SG50 | Solar-Powered Off-Grid LoRaWAN Gateway | IP67, 4G & GPS
Beschreibung
The Milesight SG50 is an ultra-low-power solar-powered LoRaWAN gateway built to remove the power and connectivity barriers of remote, off-grid sites. Built on the Semtech SX1302 chip with built-in rechargeable batteries and an included solar panel, it runs entirely without mains power inside a rugged IP67 cast-aluminium enclosure.
With 4G cellular backhaul, built-in GPS, and consumption of just 0.8 W typical, the SG50 keeps a LoRaWAN network online for up to 4 days without sunlight — ideal for oil & gas, mining, forestry, agriculture, and remote industrial monitoring. It's offered with a 30 W or 45 W solar panel to match your site's sunlight conditions.
Core Capabilities
Solar + Battery Off-Grid Power Built-in 3.6 V 25,000 mAh battery pack and an included monocrystalline solar panel (30 W or 45 W) deliver up to 4 days of operation without sunlight at just 0.8 W typical. Optional DC 12–24 V or USB-C powering for setup. 8-Channel SX1302 LoRaWAN 8 half-duplex channels with −140 dBm sensitivity and 27 dBm Tx power. Relays around 2,000 nodes to a mainstream network server (The Things Stack, ChirpStack), with a built-in network server for up to 100 devices, LBT, and packet filtering. 4G Backhaul + Built-In GPS Independent 4G LTE Cat 1 / GSM cellular backhaul (Nano SIM, 4FF) needs no wired internet, while built-in GPS supports location and remote management. Wi-Fi (AP mode) is used for on-site configuration. Rugged IP67 for Remote Sites Cast-aluminium IP67 enclosure withstands harsh outdoor environments from −30 °C to +70 °C. All-in-one design with wall or pole mounting and standard accessories enables fast field deployment.Typical Applications
• Oil, Gas & Mining: Provide LoRaWAN coverage at well sites, pipelines, and remote mining operations where mains power and wired internet are unavailable. • Agriculture & Forestry: Cover fields, farms, and forests for soil, climate, and environmental sensing, running entirely on solar power with cellular backhaul. • Remote Utilities & Infrastructure: Monitor water, energy, and assets across off-grid districts and remote infrastructure, with GPS for asset location and management. • Temporary & Rapid Deployments: The all-in-one solar design enables quick set-up for pilot networks, disaster response, and temporary sites without electrical work.Technical Integration
Key points for deploying the SG50 at remote, off-grid sites:
• Backhaul & positioning: 4G LTE Cat 1 / GSM cellular backhaul (Nano SIM, 4FF) — no wired internet needed — plus built-in GPS. Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n, AP mode) is for on-site configuration only. • Integration & protocols: MQTT and HTTP(s) only (no BACnet or Modbus). In packet-forwarder mode it relays to The Things Stack or ChirpStack; the built-in network server suits standalone sites of up to 100 devices. • Management: Configured via Web, MQTT API, or the Milesight DeviceHub / Development Platform, with an OpenVPN client. • Power: Included 30 W or 45 W solar panel, or DC 12–24 V via an M12 connector, with a built-in 25,000 mAh battery (up to 4 days without sun at ~0.8 W typical). A USB-C (5V/2A) option is available for setup. • Mounting & environment: Rugged IP67 cast-aluminium enclosure (250 × 157.5 × 46 mm; 1.755 kg with batteries) for wall or pole mounting; operates −30 °C to +70 °C. • Setup help: For off-grid network design or deployment guidance, contact the shopioT technical team. What's in the Box

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between the 30 W and 45 W variants?
The variants are the included solar panel: 30 W (SP1530, default) suits typical sunlight, while 45 W (SP1545) harvests more energy for lower-light regions or higher node counts. The gateway itself is identical.
How long does it run without sunlight?
Up to 4 days on its built-in 25,000 mAh battery (100 nodes at a 10-minute report interval), at just 0.8 W typical consumption.
How does it connect to the internet?
Via 4G LTE Cat 1 / GSM cellular backhaul (Nano SIM, 4FF) — no wired internet needed. Wi-Fi is used only for on-site configuration.
How many devices does it support?
It relays around 2,000 nodes to an external network server in packet-forwarder mode, with a built-in network server for up to 100 devices for standalone sites.
Does it have GPS?
Yes — built-in GPS supports gateway location and simplifies remote management and deployment.
Does it support BACnet or Modbus?
No — the SG50 integrates over MQTT and HTTP(s). For BACnet/Modbus building-system integration, choose the UG56, UG65, or EG71.
